Director Steve Temkin speaks at USPTO IP Road Show

The US Patent and Trademark Office held a nation-wide roadshow featuring a number of local experts who spoke on the matter of US-China Intellectual Property issues.  About a hundred people signed up for the event held at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce on June 7, 2019.

The Association was invited to send a representative to speak at the conference by Conrad Wong, Incoming USPTO IP Attache, U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou.  The conference featured a number of experienced speakers who presented information about protecting your company in China with respect to trademarks, patents, designs, counterfeiting and other matters related to intellectual property protection.

Steve spoke on behalf of the Association regarding LAGSCA’s history and achievements.  He also spoke to the critical importance of grass roots relationships at this time in US-PRC relations.  While the heated debate is carried out by the top leaders in the respective governments, it is more important than ever for people-to-people relations to remain strong.  The open dialog that exists between LAGSCA and their counterparts in Guangzhou remains respectful, open and frank.  This is an important moment for citizen diplomacy.  The work carried out by LAGSCA and many other Sister-City organizations across the US, will play a role in preserving the good relationship for the long term.
